We visit Ancient/ Modern Sparta and Mystras the Medieval Byzantine town as travelers, not as tourists. We get as excited as you to travel, to enjoy history, scenery Photography. Itinerary/ Route - Highlights /Photos
1) Corinth Canal, famous for being one of the narrowest navigable canals in the world, with dramatic, near-vertical rock walls Links the Gulf of Corinth (Ionian Sea) with the Saronic Gulf (Aegean Sea).
Length & Width: Approximately 6.4 km (4 miles) long and only about 25 meters wide, making it impassable for most modern large ships. A millennia-old dream, first conceived in ancient Greece (7th century BC) and attempted by Roman Emperor Nero, but only completed in 1893.
2) Driving from to Sparta is a scenic 1.5 to 2-hour trip (approx. 135–140 km) through the Peloponnese, transitioning from coastal routes to mountainous terrain. The drive features a modern toll road towards Tripoli, followed by a scenic, mountainous route leading down into the valley of Sparta, offering beautiful views of Mount Taygetos.
3) The Acropolis of Ancient Sparta is an accessible archaeological site featuring a grand Roman theatre, situated behind the modern stadium. Nearby, the Archaeological Museum of Sparta houses treasures from the area’s ancient history, including the famed “smiling hoplite” statue

- The bronze Leonidas statue in Sparta (1969) is an iconic, muscular representation of the Spartan King in battle gear, located near the city center, bearing the defiant inscription “ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ” (“Come and take them”).
- Nearby lies the “Tomb of Leonidas” (Leonidaion), a 5th-century BC stone structure, likely a cenotaph, representing the enduring, stoic Spartan spirit.
4) Mystras is a hauntingly beautiful, abandoned Byzantine city in the Peloponnese region of Greece, known as the “wonder of the Morea”. Founded in 1249, it served as a major cultural, intellectual, and political center, particularly during the 14th and 15th centuries.
- Imperial Grandeur: The Palace of the Despots, where the last Byzantine emperor, Constantine XI Palaiologos, was crowned and took the throne in Constantinople.
- Significance: It was the capital of the Byzantine Despotate of the Morea and served as a last major center of Byzantine culture and scholarship before falling to the Ottomans.
- Key Features: It is an open-air museum filled with ruins of a castle, a palace complex, and several well-preserved Byzantine churches (such as the Pantanassa monastery, which is still inhabited by nuns).
- Architecture: It features a unique style combining Byzantine, Frankish, and Venetian elements.
- Status: Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1989.
5) The Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil in Sparta offers a captivating journey through the history, culture, and technology of olive oil production from prehistoric times to the 20th century. Located in the heart of Laconia, this unique museum showcases rare fossils, ancient presses, and the deep, symbolic connection between the olive tree, Greek identity, and Mediterranean life.
Located in a repurposed industrial building, the museum provides a comprehensive look at how this ancient fruit shaped the economic and cultural landscape of Greece.

For Private Tours: Traveller pickup/drop off is offered from/to your hotel/apartment in/ from Athens centre up to 7 km, at the arranged time of your tour departure or your tour return.
We recommend that the tour starts at 08:00 or earlier in summer time. If for any reason this is not convenient, you can adjust the time according to your needs.
- Additional charge is applicable *25€ per way from longer pickup/drop off locations, more than 7 km from Athens city center.

Regarding the Daily Tours: Cancellations up to 24 hours before your travel date are 100% refundable as described on Viator/ TripAdvisor.
Cancellation Policy:
- Licensed Tour Guides are external co-operators & they have their own cancellation policy.
- Hotels/Bookings are external co-operators & they have their own cancellation policy and after reservation (Booking), refund is not possible
- Apart from the above cancellation limits, refunds will be made:
- If though, you fail to make your appointment for reasons that are out of your hands, that would be, in connection with the operation of your airline or cruise ship or strikes, extreme weather conditions or medical reasons, you will be refunded 50% of the paid amount.
- If your request cancellation date, for multiple day tour is over (3) months away from your reservation date, it has been known for third-party providers have their own cancellation policy, plus credit card companies, PayPal, etc. to charge a levy fee usually somewhere between 2-4%. Behind this there is a demand 10% of the total offer amount for the office service, which is not refundable.
- See All Views Travel reserves the right to cancel your booking at any time, when reasons beyond our control arise, such as strikes, prevailing weather conditions, medical or pandemic reasons, etc. occur. In this unfortunate case, you shall be immediately notified via the email address you used when making your reservation and your payment will be refunded 100%.
