We visit Athens & Sounion as travelers, not as tourists. We get as excited as you to travel, to enjoy history, culture, scenery & photography.
If you want to see most of Athens & Cape Sounion have to offer, we suggest to combine both sites in a full day tour.
The day starts with convenient pickup from your location and then takes you to the Acropolis Hill, Zeus Temple, Olympic stadium, Parliament. Continue via Athenian riviera, a scenic coastal road to Cape Sounion. Visit Poseidon Temple with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the world (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands).
You also have the flexibility to explore each attraction independently or have the options of different hours departure time, as you would like to see a unique sunset.. For taverns and restaurants apart from the taste, tradition and value also played a part in our selection. See All Views Travel sell Experiences and not Brochures. See Travel info.
Kalimarmaro Stadium (fine Marble stadio) which held the first modern Olympic games in 1896. Stop for photography
The Academy of Athens, University of Athens, Public Library of Athens are New Classical buildings inspired from ancient Greek Architecture.
Drive via the Athenian Riviera. Is a stunning, sun-drenched coastal stretch just south of Athens, featuring sandy beaches, upscale marinas, and luxury resorts, often called “the Hamptons of Greece”. It runs from Piraeus to Cape Sounion, offering a perfect blend of modern city lifestyle, ancient ruins, and serene seaside elegance.
The Temple of Poseidon Perched dramatically on the cliffs of Cape Sounion, stands as a magnificent sentinel overlooking the Aegean Sea. Built during the Golden Age of Pericles (c. 444–440 BC), this Doric masterpiece Originally featuring 34 slender marble columns, 15 still remain standing today, rising 60 meters above sea level.
Swim? Make the most of your trip by indulging in a refreshing swim in the small beach by the foot of the temple of Poseidon. Treat yourselves to some fresh fish and seafood in the local taverns. Have a glass of wine with a lovely sunset view next to your better half – in one of Attica’s best locations – having the ancient temple as a backdrop and facing the deep blue sea!
